Online co-op versus local play
The fantasy is a couch and four controllers. The store categories are single-player and online co-op. That is the whole list. A living-room session means four accounts online, not split screen.
Matchmaking is a separate problem from crossplay. One asks whether PC and PS5 share a pool. The other asks why a queue fails. I split them so this hub does not pretend they are the same bug.
- Party size: 1 to 4, from the PlayStation page and the Steam categories.
- Solo: supported. This does not by itself verify offline startup or account requirements.
- Crossplay: not confirmed. See the status page before you buy a second copy for a friend on the other box.
- PS5 online play needs PlayStation Plus. Steam does not add that fee.
Where to go next
If your friend is on the other platform, read the crossplay page before you both buy. If you are playing alone, the solo page covers what changes when nobody else is in the squad. If the queue spins, the matchmaking page collects the checks that are actually worth doing.
Player counts on SteamDB move by the hour. I am not pinning a live number on this page. Open SteamDB for the chart.
